CAPE COAST — The transport fare dispute between Pedu Junction in Cape Coast and Twifo Praso has been resolved, with passengers now paying GH¢35 instead of the GH¢38 that sparked disagreements last week.
The development follows an earlier incident in which passengers travelling from Pedu Junction to Twifo Praso were left stranded at the lorry station over disagreements concerning the increase in fares.
The fare had reportedly been increased from GH¢33 to GH¢38, prompting concerns among passengers and leading to intervention by the authorities.
However, speaking to The Central Watch, Mr Coffie, a Station Master at the Pedu Junction Lorry Station, said the matter was resolved following discussions with the MCE last Friday.
According to him, the parties reached an agreement to reduce the fare to GH¢35.
“We have resolved the issue with the MCE. Last Friday, we came to an agreement, and now we are charging GH¢35 instead of GH¢38,” Mr Coffie said.
Passengers travelling from Pedu Junction to Twifo Praso are now expected to pay GH¢35 under the new arrangement.
