NDC CONSTITUENCY ELECTIONS: NURIDEEN KOBINA ESSAH URGES ELECTORAL OFFICIALS TO ENSURE FAIRNESS AND TRANSPARENCY

Central Regional Communications Officer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nurideen Kobina Essah, has appealed to managers of the party’s constituency elections across the Central Region to uphold fairness, transparency, impartiality and accountability to ensure a credible electoral process.

In a press release dated October 19, 2026, Mr Essah commended aspirants, their campaign teams and supporters for the peaceful manner in which they had conducted their campaigns ahead of the constituency elections scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026.

He urged all contestants to sustain the peaceful atmosphere throughout the remaining campaign period and on election day, stressing that the ambition to occupy leadership positions should not be placed above the unity and stability of the party.

According to him, the credibility of the elections would be crucial in strengthening delegates’ confidence and deepening trust in the NDC’s internal democratic processes.

“Our ambition to lead must never be greater than our commitment to the party,” he stated, reminding aspirants and their supporters that the unity, stability and corporate image of the NDC were collective responsibilities.

Essah clarifies call for electoral fairness

In a telephone conversation with Central Watch following the release of his statement, Mr Essah clarified that his appeal for fairness, transparency, impartiality and accountability was not based on any suspicion or allegation of wrongdoing against those managing the electoral process.

He explained that, as an aspirant for the position of Central Regional Communications Officer, he was making a general appeal and offering a suggestion for the benefit of all aspirants and the party as a whole.

He emphasised the importance of ensuring that the electoral process was conducted in a manner that would inspire confidence among delegates and all stakeholders, irrespective of the candidates they supported.

His clarification underscores the need for electoral managers to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and neutrality to ensure that the outcome of the elections is widely accepted.

Delegates urged to choose competent leaders

Mr Essah also appealed to delegates, whom he described as the kingmakers of the electoral process, to vote wisely and consider the long-term development of their respective constituencies and the NDC.

He encouraged delegates to prioritise competence, commitment, unity, stability and development when making their choices, noting that the leaders elected would help shape the direction of their constituencies for the next four years.

He further urged aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves with mutual respect, even where disagreements arise during the contest.

“Let us compete with respect, disagree without hostility, and emerge from the polls as one family, ready to work together for the progress of our party,” he appealed.

Calls for unity after the polls

As the party approaches the October 24 constituency elections, Mr Essah expressed hope that the process would be peaceful, the results credible and the NDC emerge stronger and more united.

He wished all aspirants well and urged them to remain committed to the party’s democratic values before, during and after the elections.

The NDC constituency elections are expected to determine the party’s leadership at the constituency level for the next four years, making peace, transparency and unity essential to the party’s preparations for future political contests.
