Dr Joseph Esibu has been elected the new Central Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), bringing an end to Percy Dennis’ tenure as chairman.
Esibu won the regional executive elections with 278 votes, while the incumbent chairman received 161 votes.
The election also produced changes in several other positions, although a number of the sitting executives managed to retain their posts.
Kojo Halm was elected First Vice Chairman after polling 271 votes, beating K. K. Bondzi, who received 167 votes.
Meshack Kweku Amoafo won the Second Vice Chairman position with 220 votes. Samuel Ghartey polled 120 votes, while Betty Adwoa Nyantakyiwaa received 97 votes.
There was no change in the position of Regional Secretary, as incumbent Takyi Mensah secured another term with 283 votes. He defeated Armstrong Esaah, who obtained 157 votes.
Charles Odoom also retained the Assistant Secretary position with 257 votes, beating Eunice Darkor, who polled 178 votes.
Anthony Sackey recorded one of the biggest victories of the election in the Regional Organiser contest. The incumbent secured 333 votes against Anthoney Appiah’s 72.
Francis Asare retained the Regional Treasurer position after receiving 244 votes. His opponent, Mustapha Mohammed, polled 196 votes.
The Youth Organiser position went to Odeneho Kwakye Appiah, who obtained 189 votes. Lawrence Edutuah Essiaw received 131 votes, while David Essandoh polled 118.
Agyeman Asiedu was elected Regional Communication Director with 233 votes. He defeated incumbent Isaac Mensah, who received 118 votes, and Noah Osei Assenso, who polled 85.
Charlotte Adwo Antwi retained the Regional Women’s Organiser position with 302 votes, beating Carolyn Aboagye, who obtained 136 votes.
In the Nasara Coordinator election, King Dgagada emerged victorious with 207 votes. Semila Kabore followed with 161 votes, while incumbent Abubakar Osman received 70 votes.
The newly elected executives will take charge of the NPP’s regional organisation in the Central Region, including the party’s activities and structures at the grassroots level.
