The Ebusuapanyin and Head of the Brempong Kodwo Ebiradze Royal Family of Abura, Cape Coast, has officially announced the passing of the Chief of Abura, Nana Kodwo Addae II, who died on May 30, 2026, at the Central Regional Hospital in Cape Coast.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Abura Chief Palace on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, in accordance with the customs and traditions of the Abura Traditional Community.
Addressing Nananom, elders, members of the Ebiradze Royal Family, chiefs and queenmothers, the Tufuhen, Asafo companies, residents and other distinguished guests, the Ebusuapanyin described the passing of Nana Kodwo Addae II as a great loss to the Abura community.

According to him, the late chief served the Abura Traditional Community with wisdom, unity and love, while protecting the dignity of the stool and the lands entrusted to his care.
He said the Royal Family had duly informed the Oguaa Traditional Council about the death, adding that the necessary traditional rites would be performed by the Royal Family and Nananom.
As part of the mourning period, the Ebusuapanyin announced the suspension of festivals, drumming and merry-making in Abura until further notice from the Royal Family.

He therefore appealed to all sons and daughters of Abura, both at home and abroad, to return home and mourn with the community.
He further urged residents to maintain peace and protect the dignity of the Abura Stool throughout the mourning period.
“Abura goes red, Abura goes black. Abura is switched to mourning mood,” he declared, signifying the commencement of the traditional mourning period for the late chief.
The Ebusuapanyin expressed hope that the ancestors would receive the late Nana Kodwo Addae II peacefully and prayed for the continued unity and progress of Abura.
He concluded by saying: “May the ancestors receive him well. May the Ebiradze Stool never be empty. May Abura live on.”
The announcement was made by Ebu. Alhaj Hameed Kotompo, Ebusuapanyin and Head of the Brempong Kodwo Ebiradze Royal Family of Abura.
