Lawyer Samuel Atukwei Quaye, Chairman of the Vetting Committee Delegation for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Central Regional elections, has urged all aspirants to strictly adhere to the rules, regulations and procedures governing their campaigns to avoid disqualification from the electoral process.
He cautioned the aspirants against violating the campaign guidelines, particularly the restrictions on the use of billboards, warning that failure to comply with the directives could jeopardise their chances of contesting the upcoming regional elections.
Lawyer Quaye made this known to the media after the successful completion of the vetting exercise at the NDC Central Regional Office in Cape Coast.
According to him, aspirants have been instructed not to erect billboards indiscriminately as part of their campaign activities. He explained that those who intend to use billboards must comply with the approved size requirements and ensure that such campaign materials are placed only in permitted locations, including areas around constituency party offices and venues designated for the elections.
He stressed that the guidelines had been established to ensure an orderly, fair and transparent electoral process, urging all aspirants to familiarise themselves with the requirements and conduct their campaigns within the approved framework.
Lawyer Quaye further disclosed that a total of 58 aspirants, including the incumbent regional chairman, participated in the vetting exercise.
He expressed satisfaction with the process, stating that the exercise went on successfully and that no aspirant was disqualified during the vetting.
The committee chairman encouraged the aspirants to maintain discipline, respect the party’s established procedures and demonstrate the spirit of unity as they prepare for the regional elections.
He emphasised that adherence to the campaign regulations would help prevent unnecessary disputes and promote a peaceful electoral process within the party.
The NDC Central Regional elections are expected to provide an opportunity for party members to elect leaders who will steer the affairs of the region and strengthen the party’s organisational structures ahead of future political engagements.
