Police Arrest Two After Video Shows 12-Year-Old Driving Articulated Truck

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 12-year-old boy and a 34-year-old man after a video circulating on social media showed the minor driving an articulated truck.

According to the police, the vehicle involved is a DAF XF 105 truck with registration number GS 3097-20. The adult arrested is suspected to have allowed the child to operate the heavy-duty vehicle.

In a statement issued on Friday, August 1, the Police said investigations were launched after the video gained widespread attention online.

The Service cautioned parents, guardians and vehicle owners against allowing children or unlicensed individuals to drive, stressing that such conduct is unlawful and poses a serious danger to road users.

Police noted that permitting minors to operate vehicles, particularly articulated trucks, is a breach of Ghana’s Road Traffic Act and could put lives at risk.

The Service also appealed to members of the public to report similar incidents to help improve road safety and ensure compliance with traffic laws.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
